2. How many days can I be abroad on an annual policy?
Our annual multi-trip policies cover 31 days on any one trip extendable to 60 days and 90 days any one trip for an additional premium. All our multi-trip policies include Winter sports cover as standard and the number of days you can ski and snowboard in any 12-month period of insurance is limited to 21 days in total. We can also insure you for up to 28 days and whole weeks thereafter on our single trip policies.

11. Why do you offer two types of Worldwide Cover?
We do this on our Single Trip policies as we want to give you the widest choice possible at the most favourable price. We therefore offer you a worldwide policy, which excludes the USA and Canada, and a worldwide policy that includes the USA and Canada. We believe that this offers you the best value for money and leaves the choice to you.

12. If I take out a Europe policy, are there any restrictions on where I can go?
If you take out a Europe policy with us, you are insured to travel to and within Europe west of the Ural Mountains, Madeira, Canary Islands, Iceland, the Azores, Cape Verde Islands, Mediterranean Islands and non-European countries bordering the Mediterranean (except Algeria, Lebanon, Libya, and Albania).

It is not possible to add a co-traveller to an annual policy for a single trip. You would need to arrange a separate single trip policy for your companion.

15. I am in the military/emergency services, am I covered if I am called for duty?
Yes, we provide cover for the withdrawal of leave for members of the Armed Forces, Police, Fire, Nursing or Ambulance Services, provided that such cancellation or curtailment could not have reasonably been expected at the time of applying for insurance.

Yes, you can reduce your excess to £0 for the payment of an additional premium by selecting the appropriate box on the website when selecting your policy.

If, during your trip, it is necessary for you, or a member of your party, to go to hospital or travel home other than as originally planned, you must contact the Assistance Company at the time of the incident or as soon as possible.

Yes, you are free to select whichever travel insurance policy you want. Some agents and tour operators will try very hard to get you to take out their own travel insurance product, which are usually more expensive than what you can find over the Internet.

21. Can I cancel my policy if it does not meet my needs?
If you decide the insurance does not meet your needs, you may cancel the insurance within 14 days from the date of purchase and we will refund the premium provided you have not taken a trip to which this insurance applies and you have not made a claim. We reserve the right to apply a £15 administration charge.

29. When does cancellation cover commence?
On a single trip policy, the cancellation risk starts from the date you purchase the policy, or the date you purchase the holiday if later, even though your trip may be several months ahead. For a multi trip policy, the cancellation risk will start from the date you choose to start your annual policy and only comes into force once you have paid for your holiday.

5. How is the medical expenses part of this policy affected if travelling to a region covered by the FCO recommendation not to travel?
FCO advice is there for guidance to travellers and updated very regularly. The decision to travel is up to the policyholder but there are exclusions in this policy relating to terrorism, war, rebellion and civil disturbances, among others. No cover will be provided should you raise a claim that has been caused by any of the events as laid out in the General Exclusions of our policy.

6. Does being pregnant affect my travel insurance cover?
We will not provide insurance cover if you are expected to give birth within eight weeks of the start of your trip, during the trip or within eight weeks of the end of the trip, other than for Cancellation where the trip has been booked and insurance purchased prior to becoming pregnant and where the start of the trip falls within the last 8 weeks of pregnancy, as confirmed by your medical practitioner.

1. What is my baggage cover?
Baggage is defined as luggage, clothing, personal effects, valuables and other articles which belong to you (or for which you are legally responsible), used or carried by you during any trip. Your valuables are defined as jewellery, gold, silver, precious metal or precious or semi precious stone articles, watches, furs, leather goods, cameras, camcorders, photographic, audio, video, computer, television and telecommunications equipment (including CD's, DVD's, tapes, films, cassettes, cartridges and headphones), computer games and associated equipment, telescopes and binoculars, portable DVD players, ipods and MP3 players. There are limits in the baggage sections that may not be enough for expensive items such as jewellery and photographic or video equipment. However, you can usually insure these items separately under the 'All Risks' extension of your home insurance.

Families, Single Parent Families and Couples
1. Can you explain what you mean by family?
When you take out our family policy, we define take this to mean two adults and up to 4 children, step children or foster children aged 17 and under or 18 to 21, if in full time education, at the time of purchasing this insurance, accompanying the parents or legal guardian insured on the same policy travelling on any trip to the same destination. Under annual multi trip cover, either adult is also insured to travel on their own. Children may travel independently provided the additional premium has been paid at the time of commencement of the policy and noted on the certificate.

2. What do you mean by close relative?
In our policy, 'close relative' means spouse, partner, fiancé(e), mother, father, son, daughter, sister, brother, grandparent, grandchild, parent-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, sister-in-law, brother-in-law, step parent, step child, step sister, step brother, foster child or legal guardian who reside in the UK.

Yes, we offer a Winter sports policy with a range of skiing and snowboarding benefits for customers who want to take part in normal Winter sports activities. Winter sports cover is included in all our annual multi trip policies as standard and can be added to all single trip policies with the payment of an additional premium.

In our annual policies, the number of days you can ski and snowboard is limited in any twelve month period of insurance to 21 days in total and you will find that this compares very favourably to many other policies on the market.

Yes, water skiing, but not jumping, is included at no extra premium provided the activity is professionally organised and supervised and you wear relevant safety equipment and take appropriate safety precautions and is incidental to your holiday. The travelandinsure policy wording contains a list of hazardous activities that are included as standard and lists those activities that we can cover with the payment of an additional premium. 1. Am I covered if my golf clubs are is delayed or lost in transit?
Yes you are covered whilst on your trip. We will pay you for the loss, theft or damage to your own golf equipment and also, for each 24 hour period, for the cost of necessary hire of Golf Equipment following the loss of, breakage to and the misdirection and delay in transit of your golf equipment.

Yes, we do. We will pay you if you score a 'hole-in-one' though we do ask you to submit your score card, signed by you and a witness and countersigned by the club professional.

Wedding Cover
1. What happens if my wedding photos are stolen, lost or damaged during my trip?
We offer cover for the reasonable additional costs incurred to reprint/make a copy of or retake the photographs/video recordings either at a later date during the trip or at a venue when you return home if the professional photographer who was booked to take the photographs/video recordings on your wedding day is unable to fulfil such obligations due to illness or unavoidable and unforeseen transport problems. We also cover the photographs/video recordings of the wedding day, taken by a professional photographer, which are lost, stolen or damaged within 14 days after the wedding day and whilst you are still at the holiday location.
